The Warwick House is an intensive family-based residential treatment program integrating the successful components of mental health treatment into the traditional tenets of a Child Welfare endorsed residential treatment facility. The Warwick House program serves children ages 5-14 years old who struggle with emotional and behavioral problems, including substance abuse exposure issues. The children may also be under Children and Youth or Juvenile Probation supervision. The Warwick House philosophy endorses CASSP principles as well as the three primary goals of the amended and signed Adoption and Safe Families Act (AFSA) (safety, permanence, and well being for all children served by the child welfare system). The Warwick House is JCAHO Accredited.

The Warwick House program is dedicated to:

  • Limit children’s length of stay in residential treatment (4-6 months)
  • Reduce the severity of their emotional, behavioral, and substance abusing concerns
  • Developed specializations in areas such as attachment issues, sexual reactivity, anti-social/violent behavior and treatment of severe trauma
  • Minimize the necessity for higher levels of care (e.g.: inpatient hospitalization)
  • Improve family functioning and family relationships by maximizing each family member’s ability to access both internal and external resources and strengths
  • Achieve permanency for children, ideally through reunification, foster or adoptive placement

Coverage for Services… In Pennsylvania, services are either funded directly by the PA Medical Assistance fee for service program or through a Medical Assistance Managed Care Organization. These include Magellan Behavioral Health (MBH), Community Behavioral Health (CBH), Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH) and their affiliated counties. The Warwick House is a contracted provider with these entities.

In addition, services may be covered by certain commercial insurers on a case-by-case basis.

All services require prior authorization based on coverage guidelines for treatment established by PA Medical Assistance and/or those guidelines established by the managed care organization.

It is important to note that children and families who are authorized for treatment by either Medical Assistance or a Medical Assistance Managed Care Organization are not required to pay “out of pocket” for most treatment expenses.

However, in those circumstances when private (commercial) insurance is accessed for coverage, services may be subject to policy specific deductible and co-payment requirements.
