John Franks, MSS, LCSW Director
Warwick Family Based Program Education Bryn Mawr College Bryn Mawr, PA Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research Master of Social Services Hahnemann University Philadelphia, PA Bachelor of Science in Mental Health Technology Community College of Philadelphia Philadelphia, PA Associate of Science Mental Health/Social Services Center for Contextual Therapy and Allied Studies Valley Forge, PA Post Graduate Certificate Program John Franks is a well-respected and experienced child and family therapist. Since 1985, John has worked with children, adolescents and their families in a broad range of treatment models including individual, family and group therapy in an outpatient, inpatient and home setting. He also has particular expertise and interest related to the needs of the victims of domestic violence especially those with a history of emotional or physical abuse. The range and depth of John’s clinical experience contributes to his ability to deliver effective supervision to our staff of family-based therapists on a consistent basis. John believes that all therapists must have a thorough understanding of family-systems issues relevant to each case. For this to happen, each therapist must effectively assess the nuclear/extended family for its impact on the effective functioning of the family and be able to identify and access unrecognized strengths to support the healthy development of the child. John’s family therapy experience, combined with his special interest in domestic violence issues, allows him to provide cogent insight regarding the effect ecosystemic factors have on child/family safety, permanency and well being. His insight helps support our staff in their effort to help patients achieve the goals of treatment. John strongly believes that effective case management and the accessing of community based resources to support identified strengths is a key to achieving a successful outcome. John has assembled a highly skilled staff that is dedicated to personal and professional development with a strong motivation to serve children and families. Our staff works in a nurturing environment, which encourages them to deliver an effective clinical program that is both ethical and humane in its approach to therapy. Our family based program has formed strong partnerships with Bucks County Children and Youth, The Office of Mental Health and the many school districts with which we routinely work. In addition, the Warwick Family Based program works closely and collaboratively with the case management staff at Magellan Behavioral Health.
